Prime Time
Over the past few weeks I've accumulated a small collection of primers, I'm not really sure how it happened but it seems like every time I've made a beauty purchase recently there has been a primer to accompany it.
Now primers are essential in my beauty routine, even if I'm just going for a 'your face but better look'. They allow your make-up last longer and create a protective barrier over the skin. When you apply a primer before your foundation it gives your skin a more flawless look while using less product.
Here are a few of the primers I've been using recently;
Stila One Step Correct - This is a correcting primer, the green tone is to neutralise redness, the lavender is to counteract sallow undertones and the peach is to brighten the skin. This is a lightweight formula that is easily absorbed and leaves the skin looking dewy.
I noticed that it really helped reduce the redness I get around my nose and made my foundation stay put.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance - This is an illuminating primer, which has a pearl tint, helping to brighten the skin. When applied this feels like a light moisturiser going on and leaves your skin with a beautiful, healthy glow.
What I like about this product is that it blurs imperfections and makes for a really nice base for your foundation. I have been mixing this with the Stila One Step Correct to create a dewy glow.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - I seem to be a big fan of Laura Mercier lately, hence why I have two of their primers. This primer is a smoothing primer and like the Radiance primer goes on like a light moisturiser. It is great for evening out your skin tone and helps deal with oil, reducing shine.
I found this primer takes a couple minutes to dry once applied but aside from that this lightweight formula makes you feel like you have nothing on your face and won't alter the finish of your foundation.
Dr Brandt Pores No More - This is another correcting primer with a light tint but unlike the Stila One Step Correct, this one gives the skin a matte finish. This primer glides onto the skin creating a powder finish and leaves your face looking flawlessly, smooth.
I think it is worth noting here that I have normal skin, at times I do get breakouts/dry patches/ oily t-zone but for the most part my skin is normal. So in terms of reviewing this product for oil control, I can't really give a true opinion but for my skin I found Pores No More blurred my imperfections and helped my make-up stay put for a good 6 hours. I often pair this primer with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance to give my face a soft, natural looking glow.
Benefit The POREfessional - This is also a correcting primer that is meant to minimise the appearance of pores and fine-lines. The POREfessional is very similar to the Dr Brandt Pores No More just a lot more budget friendly!
The POREfessional glides on your face making it feel silky smooth but I found on my skin it flakes off. I would recommend this product more for those who have oily/combination skin.
What is your favourite primer? Do you pair your primers?
xx
