Burger Diaries: Tuna Burgers
There is something about the summer weather that makes me yearn for burgers. A thick, juicy patty topped with whatever your heart desires and held together on a gorgeous, soft bun is impossible for me to resist on a hot summers day (or any day at that!).
I think it is safe to say that I love a good burger, so I decided over this summer I would share my love of burgers with you. I'll tell you where you can find a good one and share some of my favourite recipes, for those days when only home cooked will suffice.
I'll start off with the tuna burger as I've been making these a lot lately. These are a delicious alternative to your conventional burger and are my go to recipe when I'm short on time. They're quick and easy but more importantly succulent, juicy and full of flavour!
Here is what you need to make them;
200g fresh tuna steak
small knob of ginger (about the size of your thumb)
small bunch of coriander, chopped
juice of 1 lime
clove of garlic
1 fresh red chilli
pinch of salt and pepper
handful of spinach
1 ripe avocado, sliced
hamburger buns
Put the tuna, ginger, coriander, garlic, chilli, salt, pepper and lime juice in your food processor and whiz together until the mixtures resembles a mince.
Take the mixture out and shape it into two patties. If the mixture is sticking to your hands wet them with cold water.
Place the patties on a plate and pop into the fridge for around 20 minutes to set. While the burgers are setting, preheat your barbecue or pan.
Lightly brush the burger with oil and cook them for around two minutes on each side (a bit longer if you like your burgers well done).
Once they're cooked put them onto the bun and top with spinach and avocado.
Enjoy with a mountain of fries!
