April Birchbox

I have received another box of goodness from Birchbox and for April it was all about products good enough to eat.

Plus there was a little treat you could eat, could it get any better?!

theBalm // How 'Bout Them Apples - £26 : This lip and cheek cream palette includes six freshly picked shades that are long lasting and blend beautifully. If these orchard inspired colours don't make you drool, I'm pretty sure the selection of men featured on the palette will!

I received the colour Pie in my Birchbox this month and since I've opened it,  I keep reaching for every morning.  As a cream blusher it's a beautiful, easy to blend formula that is build-able and long lasting. I have been using this more for my cheeks than my lips because I find it doesn't last very long on my lips but it does add a lovely tint of colour if you're happy to re-apply throughout the day. I feel like this palette could become a staple in my everyday make-up bag.

RMK // Make Up Base - £28 : RMK is one of the must have beauty brands in Japan and has a reputation for creating natural, glowing skin. Their make up base continues to fulfil that reputation by smoothing and hydrating the skin, creating an even base to apply your foundation to. This is a light lotion that is quickly absorbed into the skin. When I applied this to my face it instantly brightened my skin and left it feeling silky smooth. It creates a really nice base for foundation and helps it last longer.

Color Club // Cala's Gems Nail Polish - £15 (for 4) :  Color Club and Spanish blogger Gala Gonzalez teamed up together to create a collection of nail polishes with a pearlescent, pastel finish. In this months Birchbox you were able to choose which colour you wanted to receive and I went for Gold Struck. This shade is absolutely gorgeous, drying a champagne colour and has a beautiful pear finish. This colour will look even more beautiful with a tan, making it perfect for the summer. I went for two coats but you could probably get away with just one.

Yes To Cucumbers // Facial Wipes - £4  : YES TO...is a fun line which aims to create natural beauty products using a range of organic fruits and veg. They have several different lines including carrots, blueberries, grapefruit, tomatoes and of course cucumbers. These facial wipes are made to soothe the skin whilst cleansing, removing make-up and nourishing your face all in one swipe. I find that when I'm really tired I fall into a very bad habit of not washing my face before I go to sleep, naughty! Having wipes beside my bed is a saviour for those nights because I can just pull one out (maybe two if I have heavy eye make up) wipe off all my make up and not have to worry. These wipes leave your skin feeling nice and refreshed.

Propercorn // Sweet Coconut & Vanilla - £0.79 : When I opened my Birchbox to reveal this little bag of pure heaven I squealed with excitement! If you're not aware of my obsession with coconut click here and you will understand. Propercorn is all about doing popcorn properly, it is all hand-popped and seasoned with natural ingredients, none of that artificial stuff. The fresh coconut and Madagascan vanilla are balanced perfectly, creating a guilt-free treat. My only criticism for this product is maybe a bit more coconut (but that could just be me).

Yin Yang // pH-Amino Gold Defence Lotion - £18 : Yin Yang Gold Defence Lotion is a face and body lotion that is full of vitamin E and fortified with wheatgerm oil, made to protect and heal the skin. For the first time since receiving Birchbox I have to say the lotion was a massive disappointment and I really did not enjoy this product. My first issue with this lotion is that it was very runny and watery, making it difficult to rub in. Once I did manage to rub it in, it left my skin feeling sticky and the scent reminded me of paint. I'm not sure if I received a bad batch of this but I can't say I'm a fan.

I still get excited every month when Birchbox emails me to say my box is on it's way and for May they are collaborating with Harper's Bazaar...the post man cannot come soon enough!

xx
