Green Love

This week I'm spending a lot of my time spring cleaning. I love going through the house and giving each room a good organize, getting rid of the things we don't use any more. When the house is tidy and organized I feel so much more at peace and calm.

I decided that since I was giving the house a good clean out, I would go on a detox for myself as well. As I'm sure you've noticed from here and here and here! I've been indulging a bit too much recently and my body is definitely feeling it! Lately I just feel gross and not myself so I thought a good cleanse should do me some good.

One of my favourite things to drink while doing a cleanse is a green smoothie. I love them because they actually are delicious, they keep me full for hours and I feel so energized after I drink them. The health benefits they offer are a nice perk as well!

Here is what I'm currently putting in my smoothies ( I do tend to change it up depending on how I feel).

1 Banana - High in B6, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and a good source of fibre.
1 Handful of Spinach - Really good source of vitamin C, K, B1, B2, B6 and K.  As well as really good sources of iron, folic acid, maganese and carotenes.
1 Handful of Kale - High in vitamins A, C, K and E. As well as a rich source of   calcium, iron and fibre.
1 tablespoon of Flaxseed - Loaded with omega 3 essential fatty acids and       fibre.
100ml Almond Milk (this can be substituted with water) - High in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
100ml Water - you can vary how much water you put in depending on how thick you like your smoothies.
1/8 tsp Cinnamon

Place everything into a blender and blend until smooth.

Mmmmmm, so yummy!
